Description
The CM500 Series cables are enabled with the default file settings. These are communications cables only and will set new fault codes. They use the Deutsch 40 pin connector with Key #1.
The Smart Sensor Simulator for Cummins engine control modules are designed as communications cables with some sensor simulations. The connection to power, ground, ignition, and J1939 enable an RP1210 device to communicate with the ECM. Not all sensors are simulated, so the Cummins ECMs will have new fault codes when using the Smart Sensor Simulator. If fault codes are an important part of the investigation, then using a surrogate vehicle is recommended.
