Case Studies
Attached is an example of how the Ohio State Highway Patrol used the SSS to download a truck that was in the shop.
When the Highway Patrol needed to investigate a crash with a 2001 Caterpillar MBL engine powering the Sterling Tractor, they turned to the Smart Sensor Simulator to make an easy and fault free connection to the ECM. On this truck, the coolant sensor was hanging free in the air, which would set a new fault code and overwrite existing fault snapshot records if the SSS was not used. Because they used the SSS unit, the digital inspection was done in less than an hour and the ECM did not have to be removed from the engine, which is convenient for both the Highway Patrol and the mechanic.
